During that period, three one-day stakeholder engagement sessions were organized covering three regions of Malaysia, namely Peninsular Malaysia (Petaling Jaya), Sabah (Kota Kinabalu) and Sarawak (Kuching).

A total of 310 individual comments were received from 73 stakeholders from forestry departments, companies, timber industry associations, social and environmental NGOs, Indigenous People’s organizations, worker’s unions, certification bodies, universities and consultants.

Stakeholders provided suggestions including both specific changes to the standards and general improvements, sough clarification on general and standards specific issues as well as provided their opinions. A majority (86%) of the comments were specific to the Principal and Criteria. 5% of the comments were received general comments. Both 4% and 3% were comments received on the annexes and glossary respectively. 2% of the comments were regarding the preambles and 1 comment received was on FSC Policy for Association.
