The FSC Remedy Forum convened in Jakarta on 24–25 June, uniting stakeholders from across Asia-Pacific to explore both the transformative potential — and the practical challenges — of the FSC Remedy Framework.

Indonesia’s Minister of Forestry, Raja Juli Antoni, opened the event with a powerful message on healing, collaboration, and sustainable growth.
Over two days, participants engaged in dynamic dialogue and knowledge sharing to define what successful remedy looks like, surface barriers, and co-create a roadmap for action in the region.
Highlights included:
- Salem Jones underscoring FSC’s commitment to learning from stakeholders and impacted communities.
- Marc Jessel envisioning remedy’s transformative social, environmental, and economic impacts.
- Cindy Cheng providing an overview of remedy in APAC, and Charmaine Chee sharing insights on the framework’s pathways in Malaysia and experience from the ground.
- Calls from community representatives for greater transparency and capacity-building.
- Industry voices from APP, APRIL, and Remark Asia discussing practical challenges and field-level insights.
“Indeed, the Remedy Framework offers us something we’ve never had before — a structured, credible, and inclusive path to correct the course on past forest conversion and unacceptable activities, and to bring degraded lands back into a system of accountability, regeneration, and responsible management.
This is more than restoring forests — it’s restoring balance to our planet. Shaping the future for global resilience, climate stability, biodiversity recovery, and sustainable livelihoods across regions.
What’s exciting is that we have the opportunity to shift the story of converted lands in Asia-Pacific from one of exclusion and degradation to one of recovery, inclusion, and long-term impact.” ~ Charmaine Chee, Country Director, FSC Malaysia
