The Malaysian NFSS process was initiated in June 2011 upon FSC International's approval of FSC Malaysia's application to develop a set of national standards.
The national standards development process included the release of three subsequent drafts: NFSS Draft 1.0, released for the first public consultation period on 17 March 2017; NFSS Draft 1-1 for forest testing; and NFSS Draft 2.0, released for the second public consultation period on 2 January 2018.
The approved Malaysian NFSS will be published once it receives the endorsement of the FSC Policy and Standards Unit.
